Dr. Shyam Popat, BDS, MDS (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery), FHNO–FIIF, is a Fellowship-trained Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and Head & Neck Oncosurgeon with advanced training from some of India’s most prestigious medical institutions, including AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) Chandigarh, and Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram. Dr. Popat completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from A.M.C. Dental College & Hospital, Gujarat University, graduating with First Class. His academic journey has consistently been marked by exceptional national performance. He secured All India Rank 18 to join AIIMS, New Delhi for Junior Residency, followed by All India Rank 5 for admission to PGIMER, Chandigarh, where he completed his MDS in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery under the mentorship of Prof. (Dr.) Vidya Rattan and graduated as the Topper in the Exit Examination. He later secured the Top Rank in the Entrance Examination for the prestigious FHNO–Indus Institutional Fellowship in Head & Neck Oncology at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, where he trained under Dr. Deepak Sarin and was awarded the Bronze Medal in the Exit Examination. His professional journey includes training and clinical appointments at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh, Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, and currently as Junior Consultant in the Maxillofacial & Head & Neck Surgery Unit at Shubhechha Hospital, Vadodara, working alongside Dr. Rahul Thakkur. Dr. Popat has actively participated in the multidisciplinary management of more than 1,000 patients with oral cancer and head & neck diseases, including cancers of the oral cavity, salivary glands, nose and paranasal sinuses, thyroid, and parathyroid glands. His clinical expertise also encompasses oral and maxillofacial trauma, benign and malignant tumors of the orofacial region, cysts, reconstructive surgery, and complex facial defects.
